Pre-sale Garden Makeover

Baulkham Hills

Problem

Jon and his wife had begun moving into the next phase of their lives – the kids had moved out, they had started cutting back their work hours and they were finding themselves spending more time down at their holiday home on the NSW South Coast. They decided that the South Coast home was were they wanted to retire to and planned for future renovations. They decided to put their Baulkham Hills home on the market. The inside of the property was  well kept yet the outside needed some attention.

Jon begun the process of clearing out gardens , pruning and trimming , weeding and spending many hours travelling to the tip and back. Jon approached the Garden Men to assist with the bigger items in improving the outside appearance of the home.  A limited time frame was set as Jon wanted the property on the market in the new year.

What we did

The tasks for the Garden Men included re-turfing the front and the back, removal the brick letter box and replacing with a modern version with surrounding garden, clearing a weed infested garden and replanting area in a tropical theme as well as repaving a path in the backyard where jacaranda tree roots had caused major trip hazards.

The challenging aspect of this site was traffic. The Baulkham Hills home was located on a road which was very busy on drop off and pick up times at the local school. The Garden Men worked with its trusted suppliers to arrange deliveries for skip bins/ soil and mulch and other materials at times that worked for us all.

As with most projects, the Garden Men worked from the back to the front and started with lifting the damaged path. The process was to trim any smaller roots that would not effect the health of the tree, then raise the level of path with added paving sand and relay the path back into place.

The turf and garden areas were treated 2 weeks prior to commencement of the project in order to kill off the old existing weeding lawn as well as weeds in the gardens and hard surfaces such as paths and around pool. Machinery was used to dig up and remove the old lawn and other unwanted material such as the brick letterbox and broken garden edging. New turf underlay was added to new lawn level and the gardens (both new and existing) were enriched with added garden soil and compost.

The gardens were completed first with the addition of planting, fertilising and mulching. This is great when able to do before turfing as it prevents workers walking over recently laid grass. The turf was completed before deadline and Jon was very responsible in keeping the water up to his new turf during the establishment phase.

Outcome

“We contracted The Garden Men to undertake a full makeover prior to the sale of our home. The response from quotation through to the final delivery was exceptional”

– Jon

The Garden Men finished the project before deadline and gave the client confidence to present his family home of more than 25 years in excellant condition to the market. Jon and his family were extremely happy and were able to sell their home within timeframe and above price expectations.
